Types of Visas

 

The Republic of Azerbaijan issues two types of visas for foreigners and stateless persons:

 

  1. Entry Visa:

 

  • Single Entry Visa: Valid for up to 90 days and allows a single entry and exit within this period.

  • Multiple Entry Visa: Valid for up to 2 years and allows multiple entries and exits within this period.

 

  1. Transit Visa:

 

  • Single or Double Transit Visa: Issued to allow transit passage through the Republic of Azerbaijan to a third country. The validity period is 30 days, with a maximum stay of 5 days in Azerbaijan.

 

Categories and Purposes

 

Entry visas are categorized into three types: Diplomatic, Service, and Ordinary.

 

  1. Diplomatic and Service Entry Visas

 

  • Issued for official purposes to foreigners and stateless persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan.

  • Duration of stay for the official visit shall be up to 180 days.

 

  1. Ordinary Entry Visa

 

  • Issued for various purposes including:

 

          • Business - duration of stay up to 180 days

          • Science and education - duration of stay up to 90 days

          • Labor  - duration of stay up to 90 days

          • Tourism - duration of stay up to 30 days

          • Culture and sport - duration of stay up to 60 days

          • Humanitarian - duration of stay up to 90 days

          • Private visit - duration of stay up to 90 days

          • Medical treatment ­- duration of stay up to 90 days

 

Notes

  • Foreigners or stateless persons temporarily residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan for more than 15 days must be registered at the place of residence.

  • The period of stay indicated on the visa must be utilized within the visa's validity period. Unused visas within this period lose their validity.

 

 

Documents required for visa issuance

 

To apply for a visa to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the following documents are required:

 

      1. Fully completed visa application form through the link:  https://visaapplication.mfa.gov.az/ (A printed copy of the completed application must be submitted);

      2. Original passport or other travel document and a copy of the main pages;

      3. Two colored photos with a white background (3 x 4 cm) in accordance with biometric identification requirements;

      4. A copy of medical insurance certificate (if the host does not undertake to pay for medical services);

      5. Document certifying payment of a state fee for visa issuance;

          • Single Entry Visa:                                         20 USD

          • Single or Double Transit Visa:                       20 USD

          • Multiple Entry Visa:                                     350 USD

      6. Note Verbal of the country or international organization (is required for official visas);

      7. Hotel reservation (is required for tourism visas);

      8. Inbound and outbound itinerary (is required for tourism visas);

      9. Application form of the inviting party (not required for transit, tourism, official and private visit visas);

          • The application form must be approved by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

      10. A copy of the state registration certificate if the inviting party is a non-governmental organization (not required for transit, tourism, official and private visit visas);

      11. Document confirming the reason for the invitation (are not required for transit, tourism and private visit visas);

      12. Invitation letter approved by notary from a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a foreigner permanently residing in Azerbaijan, a migrant worker with a temporary residence permit, or a foreign student in Azerbaijan (is required for private visit visas);

      13. A copy of the identity document of the inviting person (is required for private visit visas);

      14. Proof of relationship confirming that the invited person is a family member of the migrant worker or the foreigner who studies in the country (is required for private visit visas);

      15. Proof of sufficient funds (required for science and education visas);

      16. Medical certificate proving the invited person's medical condition for examination and treatment (is required for medical treatment visas only).

      17. Itinerary to the destination country (is required for transit visas);
