Brief information
- By the Decree dated 18 November 2022 signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Office in Nairobi was established. By another Decree dated 23 May 2023 signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, was appointed as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Office in Nairobi, with his residence in Nairobi. In 2024, the Republic of Azerbaijan was selected as the host country for UNEP's "World Environment Day" (WED2026).
